A sweet hot girl,Sarah, is sitting on a bench at a park on one lovely day. Sitting right next to her, is Harry, looking very excited and happy. Probably because he is hanging out with one of the hottest girl in town. What excites him even more is that Sarah keeps on smiling and laughing with him all day long.
Suddenly they came to a point where they dont have anything to talk about and they just stared at each other. Thats when Harry made the move, closing his eyes, and lean towards her hoping for a kiss.
ZZAAPP!
Snap back to reality- Sarah jumped off away from him.
SARAH : Erm,what are you doing? (freaking out)
HARRY : Err..
Now in shock and deadly embarrassed by his action, tried to cover things up.
HARRY : But, I thought… we..were close and we like each other…and that’s why..
SARAH : I do like you (hesitate), but NOT like that..Sure, I like spending time with you, you’re such a nice guy but I dont see you as more than just a friend.
HARRY : But you know you like me, why not give a chance, maybe we’ll fall in love with each other.
SARAH : (holding Harry’s hand) Awww..thats so sweet of you. Why take the risk? That might ruin our beautiful friendship and we dont want that to happen right?
HARRY : Yea,you’re right (trying so hard to put up that smile on his face)
Story sounds familiar? Ring any bells? Im sure it does. It’s a classic case scenario when a guy falls into a girl’s friend zone. Or what I like to call it ‘being her girlfriend’.
Whats a friend zone?
In good terms, friend zone is where a,well,a zone for friends. Nothing wrong with that. Not if you want to go more than just friends. Lets learn a little bit about the great myth in dating.
The Biggest Myth In Dating
Is to be good friends with someone you like then only you can and hopefully make that person fall for you. You first step is to get to know the person (normally when a guy wants to tackle a girl), be friends with her, along the way hopefully she’ll fall for you too. Thats the layout of your ‘plan’. Right?
Where Did You Learn That?
Many sources. For me, I blame all the romantic movies (the chic flicks). We see all the time in that movie the hero (generally a nice guy ) will eventually get the girl if he behaves that way. Sadly, in real life, it doesnt work that way.
First of all, I’m not implementing that guys shouldn’t be nice to girls. In fact I strongly saying that men should always respect women. The problem is approaching the nice kind of way doesnt bring excitement. And the worst part of it, if you fake it or overdo it, people can tell that you’re just pretending to be nice.
Difference between Friend Zone and ‘The’ Friend Zone
Friend Zone- Pretty much a simple idea. You want to be friends with someone, be nice to that person.
‘The’ Friend Zone- Or what I would like to call it the ‘The Dumped Zone’ is where you want to tackle someone but ends up being labeled as only ‘a friend’ by that person. And yes, it sucks (been there myself)
Why You Dont Want To Be In The Friend Zone
If you got my message already, its pretty clear right? If you want that girl to be your girlfriend,stop being her girlfriend! And stop playing to be a nice guy! Even if you’re a nice guy, be nice and be attractive as well.
So what’s the sign or things that you shouldnt do that will only lead you to the friend zone?
